Park Chae Dalle & Park Chae Biole

Born in 1997 in Paris, the Park Chae twins live and work between France and Korea. Their artistic practice combines painting, poetic writing, knitting, and sculpture. As children, they returned to South Korea, to Gangwon Province, where they received a multilingual education in Korean, French, English, Japanese, and Spanish. They then returned to France for their higher education and graduated from the École des Beaux-Arts de Cergy in 2020 with honors.

Although they each have their own unique artistic approach, Biole and Dalle often present their work in duo shows, exploring both their twinship and the uniqueness of their respective practices. They have participated in numerous residencies and group exhibitions in France and abroad. Seoul has dedicated two joint exhibitions to them: “Our Walk” at the OF Art Center (2021) and another at Alterside (2023). In France, their first Duo Show, “Climb and Pause,” organized by the Anne-Laure Buffard Gallery, took place in 2022 at La Caserne. They were featured in the exhibition Good Morning Korea: Au Pays du matin calme, in the window of Maison Guerlain, partner of Art Basel Paris (curated by Hervé Mikaeloff). Two solo exhibitions were finally dedicated to each of the artists at the Anne-Laure Buffard Gallery in 2024 and their works were exhibited as part of a trio show on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of Asia Now in October 2024.

Park Chae Biole and Park Chae Dalle are two artists living and working in Paris, graduating in 2020 from the École nationale supérieure d’arts de Paris-Cergy. Twin sisters, they explore painting, textiles, installation, performance, poetry, and curatorial projects in both their individual and collaborative practices.

The first residents of La Borie Art Residency, Biole and Dalle were invited to spend several weeks at the Château de La Borie in Solignac, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, before presenting an exhibition of their works. Built in the 17th century, the Château de La Borie stands amidst French-style gardens and a so-called “moving garden,” dense forests, and vibrant pastures. Its symmetrical façade, pierced by large openings, is framed by slender turrets. Inside, light-filled rooms open onto the gardens and surrounding landscape, in keeping with the architectural aesthetic of the time, where nature was seen as an extension of the built environment, a harmonious fusion of artifice and life, under the sign of order and balance.
